The police headquarters in Neubrandenburg reported on September 3, 2026 a case from the island of Rügen that belongs in our security section – not because of its sensational value, but because of the pattern.
According to police, a man had arranged a meeting for a sexual service the evening before, price: a mid-three-digit amount. When the appointment came, the woman arrived accompanied by two men. The money was handed over in advance, but the agreed-upon service never took place – the woman left the location. When the victim then photographed a license plate, the group asked him to delete the image and left. Criminal police are investigating suspicions of fraud and coercion; investigations are ongoing.
What This Means for the Industry
The pattern is old and yet effective: advance payment outside a business, accompanying persons in the background, time pressure, and in the end intimidation instead of discussion. Such trios don’t work as sex workers – they use the setting as a cover. The damage therefore affects not only the defrauded person, but the entire legitimate industry: every such case feeds the cliché of the „rip-off scene“ and makes clients suspicious of genuine providers.
Conversely, the same caution applies to sex workers: if you’re contacted through ads or chat, booked to an unknown private address, or suddenly „company“ shows up in the room, you should be able to cancel the appointment without having to justify yourself. What has proven effective is what the community already knows anyway: verified contacts, no anonymous advance payment, a check-in with a trusted person, clear agreements made beforehand rather than at the door.
And legally important: fraud and coercion are punishable, regardless of the context in which they occur. Sex work is legal – if you’re defrauded or threatened in this environment, you can file a report.
